. . . "it's no Bridget Jones's Diary." Even Kate Winslet couldn't save this. The saddest irony of all was that the film enshrines some codger screen writer from the golden age of Hollywood. I would think the best way to pay homage to good old movies would be to make a watchable new movie.
True, true! I went into the theater expecting entertaining fluff and came out slightly offended that the movie wasn't even fluffy. But what's even sadder is that it was pretty average for romantic comedies these days. I mean, what was the last fun, romantic comedy that you've seen?
For me, I guess it would be "Waitress."

What romantic comedy meets our rather low expectations for a movie that passes the time without inspiring too many cringes? A couple of Sandra Bullock things, one of which involved martial arts and a beauty pagent. I haven't seen Waitress.
