I like your political stuff.

Thanks, Mandy. I've been reluctant to write on politics because I'm far from being an expert on policy and the world probably doesn't need another bloviating old white guy AND the internet can be so volatile, but i have also felt compelled to say what's on my mind.

Mandy

What's bloviating? I want to know because I plan to use it once a day.
You're not old!
I like these entries because they are pragmatic and thoughtful, and you don't try to just flush the opposition down the toilet. I like that lack of volatility. How Obama-esque!

It's a word a 2L who tuaght our section of legal writing loved and, like "bodacious," it's one of those words that, once you encounter it, you want to use whenever ppossible.

Slang To discourse at length in a pompous or boastful manner: “the rural Babbitt who bloviates about ‘progress’ and ‘growth’” (George Rebeck, Utne Reader November/December 1991).
ETYMOLOGY: Mock-Latinate formation, from blow1.
OTHER FORMS: blovi·ation —NOUN
