Worst of all--worst!--was when the hero abandoned his devoted, beautiful dogs because the comely lass who wouldn't sleep with him wouldn't dogsit for him either. So we were to believe that this guy had the resources and initiative to extract enormous sums of money from a Swiss bank, arrange for a black market heart transplant, purchase a Korean cargo ship, and renovate his ruined childhood home in Tahiti but he couldn't manage to find a @#$%ing boarding kennel???

I was watching a French film last year and spent the first half thinking--"My students would write with such patience if only they watched more movies like this. This is lovely." I spent the last half of the film pleading with the characters on screen--"Speak, someone SPEAK! Please!"

I am a fan of Korean films--no surprise there! But my all time fav. movie is "Love Letters" a Japanese film. It has a patient unfolding of plot--but there is a plot and the accumulation of details is really moving.

We'll have to put Love Letters on our list.
